Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
Two people are better than one and three are even better still, than the two. I loved the imagery that follows in verse eleven about how a triple braided cord is not easily broken. This scripture discusses the advantages of companionship.
I believe we were created to have a companion. Back in Genesis after God created Adam he created Eve as a companion and helper for him and there began the first family. We need friends and family as we traverse this life. They provide the love, support, encouragement, and friendship we need to grow and thrive.
The enemy of the saints attempts to destroy these relationships and we must fight to keep them alive. Are there any relationships in my that are broken and in need of repair? Who in my life do I need to extend forgiveness and grace to? Is there anyone out there I can I offer support, friendship, or encouragement to? Am I a friend who helps out when someone is in real trouble? I must fight to keep my friends and family in my life and to be a friend and companion to others. We are stronger together than we are apart.
Prayer: Father, teach me to be supportive to those in my life. Help me to be a light in this dark place. Show me how to offer forgiveness to those who may not deserve it, just as you have forgiven me time and again. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.
